A range of circumstances can indicate to us that a customer may need extra help and support.

This isn’t a complete list but a heat customer in a vulnerable situation may include someone who:

  • Is disabled or chronically sick

  • Has a long term medical condition

  • Has children under the age of 5

  • Is 65 or older

  • Suffers from mental health issues

  • Is pregnant

  • Is on a low income

  • Is in a vulnerable situation, for example may recently have suffered a bereavement, has lost their job, or may be recovering following hospital treatment

We use guidelines set out by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) to help us identify those most at risk of health issues, or preventable deaths from living in cold homes.

If you think you qualify to be registered on our Priority Services Register as a heat customer in a vulnerable situation, you can complete and return to us the Priority Services Registration Form included in your welcome pack. By making us aware of your circumstances we then know that you need extra help keeping warm if there’s ever a supply failure, particularly during the winter months.

You can find out more in the leaflets provided in your welcome pack or on our website here https://www.watkinsenergy.co.uk/helpinghand/index.html
